Word for 2017-Intentional

For the past several years I’ve asked God for a word for the upcoming year. And every single time I ask, He’s faithful to give.

This year my word is Intentional.

In 2016 we saw some major accomplishments, we saw spiritual strongholds crumble in the presence of God, we saw miracles and healings, and personally I received deliverance from some PTSD issues related to childhood trauma.

And while we saw so many positive things, I can’t help but remember the not-so-positive as well. One issue that stood out over and over was the fact that in many ways I let important things slide. I wasn’t intentional about making them a priority.

So at the close of 2016 I began to pray in earnest for God to give me a word. And in His graciousness He did.

I believe that this year- 2017- is going to be a year of great revival. I believe that God is going to continue to reveal Himself in spectacular ways–signs, miracles, and wonders– in the extraordinary and the ordinary events of our lives. And for me personally, He has been whispering that He is going to open up the doors to a long-standing calling He placed on my live two decades ago and even as recently as six years ago.

Y’all, I’m excited to see what God is going to do!!

And through it all He is calling me to be intentional with spending time with Him daily–to deepen what I already do into a new season of daily worship and experiencing the presence of God. He’s calling me to be more intentional in planning, in taking care of my priorities and schedule. But most of all, He’s calling me to be intentional in the Great Command– Loving Him and Loving Others.

There are so many words God could have given me, and I’m so honored that He entrusted me with this word.

So what’s your word for 2017? What are a couple of ways you’re going to live it out?

Blessings and joy,

  1. Ahhh, loved reading this Sarah. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for 2017. I think I’m feeling a variation of what you’re touching on – specifically going deeper. So I guess we’re in the same boat! Glad to have some company 🙂
