In the Word Wednesday…Blessings

blessings_blogDeuteronomy 30:9-11

9 Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The Lord will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors, 10 if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

11 Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.

I just want to jump up and down and shout out how great God is!

Isn’t it awesome how He always has a Word at the right time? These verses were in my Bible reading for this morning’s quiet time.

I can’t tell you how much comfort reading this brought me today. Y’all God is so good to us! It boggles my poor mind to think about the blessings he gives me personally every. single. day. Even when I’m less than obedient to Him. How that makes my heart sing. And how it makes my heart grieve for my sin!

Guys, God loves us. He loves you. He wants to bless you. He does! Praise God!

But He also expects me and you to obey Him. (verse 10)

This goes for all of us who believe in the power of the Almighty One. The blessings come, yes! praise God!, but look what He tells us- when we choose to turn to the Lord and make Him number one in our hearts He will truly prosper us! Wow!

When we choose to do what’s right over what’s convenient. When we choose Him over our favorite TV show, when we choose to spend time with Him instead of sleeping in, when we bring  back that extra plant the Lowe’s cashier forgot to ring up even though it was only 50 cents on the clearance rack because we don’t want to steal. When we choose to tell the truth instead of a lie? Can someone give me an amen to that?

And guys! I’m so blessed by His words in verse 11. Obeying Him isn’t something that’s impossible to do, praise God! It isn’t beyond our reach. Praise God! Sometimes it seems so hard to obey, but really, it isn’t. Choose what’s right. That’s the real issue. Choosing the path that leads to life and blessing.

Praying you are truly blessed by His Holy Words today.

Make the choice. Choose God. Choose obedience to His Word. Choose blessings that far outnumber curses.

What blessings has God shown you lately?

Be Spirit filled!
Sarah
